The Project

A number of outcomes resulted from the completion of the Captains project. The course encompasses a number of 2D and 3D simulations developed based upon real life accidents and incidents. The course content, as both hosted on the e-learning platform and featured in the standalone digital course uses communicative Maritime English to improve communication skills.

By clicking on the Survey tab, you can discover links to the original questionnaires that were distributed amongst Maritime English teachers and seafarers as part of the needs analysis that was conducted at the beginning of the project.

The news section contains project news from throughout the project, detailing important events and conferences that took place, and discussions that were held between Captains partners.

The course materials and content are available free of charge as both an online and offline (standalone course). The online course is supported by an e-learning platform, KWEBO, which facilitates collaborative and communicative learning between learners in the learning community. This can be located from the CAPTAINS product website, as well as the online courses, at www.captains.pro.

A downloadable version of the CAPTAINS course (standalone version) is also available on the website. You can then study without the need for an internet connection, after the software has been downloaded to your computer.
